We had two main aims:
- to improve the effectiveness of the annual objective setting and performance management process; and,
- to feed back the results of an annual employee survey in an easy to understand format that would motivate the taking of local action.
Our task was to influence managers and those reporting directly to them in all global markets.

Initially we used short, interactive guides and workbriefs, following these up with
large worksheets and accompanying briefing documents within a 2 hour workshop structure.
We worked alongside the Diageo HR function and external experts in the performance management process. It became clear that we would have to adapt a comprehensive annual programme in the light of expressed audience needs.
This involved “translating” what had been a lengthy process into a simple interactive tool that raised standards of objective setting and performance review considerably across the whole company.
